Visiting la Cuenca

Today we went to la Cuenca again, but this time not for fun and games.  This time we were doing something which was the main purpose of our mission, to help those who are suffering and strengthen their faith in God.  These past days have been a huge eye opener to see so many kids, adults and even small animals live in poverty.  Today we were actually doing something to help them.  In the morning we met up with Hugo and helped him carry sacks of food and utilities to people's houses.  I, along with some of the other guys, volunteered to carry a sack of food and utilities for the family.  We walked to each house to drop off the food, and Hugo would talk to the family about how they were doing and ask for their prayer requests.  When they were done talking, Hugo and Nathan (who is an American-born missionary living in Costa Rica for many years partnering with Hugo) told us about their problems and ask for someone to volunteer to pray.  We delivered food to seven houses in total, four in the morning and three in the afternoon.  It made me feel good to be serving people who are suffering and bring them closer to God and help strengthen their faith by telling them that there is still hope and there are people who care.  I believe God sent us on the mission to help his followers who are suffering and strengthen their faith.  My only regret is that I wish we could've served more people who are suffering.  At least we helped some people in the community that are constantly suffering and struggling with life and their faith.  I pray that everyone in la Cuenca could make it through their struggle and that they could strengthen their faith in God.
